Kenya Andrews Publishes New ACM Interactions Paper

The STEMJazz community is pleased to spotlight Dr. Kenya S. Andrews, a Provost’s STEM Postdoctoral Fellow at Brown University, on the publication of her new article “Moving from Fairness to Justice: Intentional Algorithmic Solutions Through an Intersectional Lens” in the September-October 2025 issue of ACM Interactions.
In her work, Andrews challenges conventional “fairness” metrics in machine learning, such as demographic parity or equalized odds that are often posed in economic or utility terms. The article not only advances theory but grounds it in a justice-oriented lens that aligns with Brown’s commitment to inclusion and rigorous interdisciplinary research. Congratulations to Dr. Andrews for this important contribution!
